XCC in Tollwitz

When the checkered flag dropped in front of the Finnish BMW factory rider Simo Kirssi at the finish line of the GCC-Race in the Sandpit of Tollwitz the whole team of BMW Motorrad Motorsport was overcome by a wave of relief. After the hard work of the last months they could celebrate a victory at the first race of the German Cross Country Championship which is the off road series with the most participants in Europe. It was hard work in Tollwitz for the 28 year old Kirssi on his BMW G 450 X. The competition was international and tough, riders like the multiple times Le Touquet champion Arnaud Demester and the French cross star Cyrill Coulon were at the start line.

XCC Schefflenz

The BMW Motorrad Motorsport team’s season long development of BMW’s new 450cc sports enduro bike has drawn to a successful and rewarding close as team rider Simo Kirssi claimed victory at the final round of the ’07 European Cross Country Championship, held in Schefflenz, Germany. Having experienced a season full of ups and downs while developing the new machine, at the XCC final both Finn Simo Kirssi and BMW’s new 450cc bike performed well with Simo’s victory giving him...

XCC Schweinfurt

Although missing out on a top result due to a typical case of „that´s racing", Simo Kirssi still managed to end his season on a high note. It was a defining moment of the 2007 German Cross Country championship. And a milestone for BMW´s much-talked-about 450 prototype. At the series´ final round at Schweinfurt, factory rider Simo Kirssi had just made a pass stick on multi-time World champ Samuli Aro. While the maneuver didn´t really matter in terms of championship points or race outcome, it...

GCC Rnd 4, Mernes

BMW Motorrad Motorsport team rider Simo Kirssi saw his very real chance of a podium finish at the fourth round of the German Cross Country series, staged in Mernes, near Frankfurt, ended when he collided with a lapped rider in the closing stages of the race. Competing once again aboard BMW’s prototype 450cc sports enduro bike Kirssi was just eight seconds adrift of the runner-up position and deep into the two-hour race when a collision with a slower rider resulted in him parting...

GCC Rnd 3, Höchstädt

On June 3 the BMW Motorrad Motorsport team entered their new prototype 450cc Sportenduro bike into the third round of the German Cross Country Series, held in Höchstädt, Bavaria, where BMW factory rider Simo Kirssi came close to claiming a runner-up finish. Having spent much of the race in the second place position and not far behind eventual race winner Samuli Aro aboard his factory KTM Kirssi was unluckily not to finish the race as a problem with his bike’s rear...

Erzberg Rodeo '07, Hare Scramble

BMW Motorrad Motorsport team rider Simo Kirssi proved without question that he was the fastest rider up Erzberg’s iron mountain this year when he recorded the fastest time in the Prologue having already topped the Twin-cylinder class race. Finishing ahead of ’06 twin-cylinder class winner David Knight to win the ‘Konigklasse’ event for the first time, Simo then recorded a best time of eight minutes 44 seconds to top the results of the Prologue. In adding a winning performance in the Prologue to his Twin-cylinder class victory Simo made it a perfect two from two for the BMW Motorrad Motorsport team and their HP2 motorcycles at the ’07 Erzberg event.
